Respond to SB 244!

SB 244 is now law, and it puts into law inaccurate definitions relating to gender that will be used to discriminate broadly and create unsafe environments for trans, intersex, and gender diverse individuals. Not only does it strip all gender marker changes from Driver's Licenses, but it also includes a birth certificate ban and make both of these retroactive, requiring any current documents to be reissued by the state government. 

Governor Kelly vetoed this ugly bill, but the legislature overrode her veto on February 18.

You can use this link to populate an email to “shame or acclaim” your lawmakers. If your legislator voted to override the veto, it will send an email expressing your disappointment and ask them to consider trans rights in legislation moving forward. If your legislator voted to sustain the veto, it will send an email thanking them for supporting trans Kansans and tell them to keep up the good work.
