August 4 - Vote No!

On August 4, Kansas voters will decide how KS Supreme Court Justices will be selected: continue our current, merit-based nominating system or abolish this trusted system in favor of partisan elections which would turn judges into politicians.

A healthy democracy depends on institutions that can hold those in authority accountable and protect the rights of all people, especially when public opinion shifts or political power becomes concentrated. As people of faith and conscience, we recognize the sacred importance of checks and balances, the role of an independent judiciary, and why the structures of democracy matter to our shared life together.

If passed in the upcoming primary election, this amendment would change the selection process for Kansas Supreme Court Justices, allowing outside political forces, billionaires, and partisanship to influence Kansas Courts. This would overturn the fair and impartial system we've had in this state for over 65 years.

We encourage all KIFA supporters to vote “no” on August 4 to protect the Kansas Supreme Court.
