KIFA will be holding an interfaith prayer vigil around the immigration/separated children issue on Monday, July 2 at 2 pm in the Visitors Center on the ground floor of the State Capitol.
As you have no doubt heard, there is a shelter of separated immigrant children in Topeka. It is the only such shelter in Kansas or Missouri, so it's gathering a lot of attention. Rather than speaking the specific issue raised by the management of this shelter, we'll pray more globally around the issues of immigration and family separation, using the presence of these children in our midst to the speak to the issues of caring for the stranger, the importance of asylum, and the issue of diversity and, not only acceptance, but joy at the inclusion of people of all hues and faiths in the America we're trying to build.
The speakers will represent (as far as possible) the breadth of the faith community in Kansas. Please plan to join us.
