KIFA is partnering with the Fellowship of Reconciliation (the old and respected pacifist organization) to organize a campaign called #giverefugeesrest.
The idea is to decorate pillowcases and include that hashtag; circulate the images on social media; and send the pillowcases to governors who are opposing refugee resettlement in their states -- including, of course, our own Gov. Brownback.
A lot of our members are concerned about this issue, and virtually all of the denominations have made statements on it. We also testified against a bill (HB 2216) that would allow state government to limit the resettlement of refugees.
The pillowcases would make a good Sunday School activity. This pictures are from the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Manhattan.
If you do this project sign up to let us know; we can coordinate the delivery of the pillowcases and get some press around it.
